About Me & Pricing

My Yoga Journey

… began seriously in 2013. I was going through a divorce, a lifetime of depression, and a series of jobs I hated (in a city I didn’t want to live in), when I noticed my chronic knee pain. One of the good things about my job at the time was free access to the gym close to where I lived and worked, including the yoga classes there. I developed a relationship with one of the teachers, started practicing on my own ~ just a few poses a day, targeting my misaligned right knee.

Within a few months, my knee was pain-free and strong enough to handle hitting a parked car on my bike with only a small bruise to show for it. So I tried yoga for depression. That worked, too! By 2015 I had done enough research and practice to begin teaching friends and acquaintances in my home.

Soon enough, I moved back to the city I love the most and received a scholarship to complete my 400-hour Yoga Teacher Training Certification in 2017 from Swan River. I have been teaching professionally ~ privately and publicly ~ in New Orleans, ever since.

Pricing Philosophy

Equity & Access

Who do you see when you think of yoga? I want the answer to that question to be “somebody who looks like me,” every time, for every person. Unfortunately, many people think “yoga isn’t for me” because the people we see doing yoga most often have thin, flexible, cisgendered, female, European bodies, and are expensive althleisure wear to boot.

If you look closely, this image of “what yoga looks like” is changing, but many people whose bodies and backgrounds don’t fit the stereotype feel like they don’t have a place in yoga. As a teacher, I seek to make yoga accessible to any- and EVERY- body who wants to find peace and power in their mind, breath, and body, whatever shape, ability, size, or color that body might be.

Fees

Private yoga lessons start at $100* per session. The first session is 90 minutes, during which time I will assess your abilities and develop a “game plan” for how to address the issues you want to improve in your mind and body. After the first session, we will meet for 60 minutes** per session, as often as you would like.

Couple’s Yoga is priced at $160 per session, with the same time structure as individual private yoga.

Private Groups of 3-10*** people are $180 per hour; the host and I will speak in advance about the group’s needs, and I’ll come with a sequence (plus several mats, blocks, bolsters, etc.) and a playlist, already prepared!

If you need to cancel for any reason, please give me a full day’s notice. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before our scheduled time will incur a 50% fee (sliding scale and bulk prices still apply).

*As a veteran of the service industry, I accept tips with appreciation and joy.

** If you’re pressed for time, 30-minute sessions can be arranged for a smaller fee.

*** Groups of more than 10 are strongly encouraged to book with me or any of my talented colleagues available at https://www.footprintstofitness.com/services

Sliding Scale

A student of affordable yoga myself, I deeply value the philosophy of the sliding scale. I truly believe that by practicing together, you and I will literally make the world a better place. If you are sincere about deepening your practice, but are unable to pay full price, WE CAN WORK IT OUT. Priority is given to members of systematically marginalized populations (e.g., indigenous survivors of colonization and/or chattel slavery, trans and queer folk, etc.).
